Dragon microphones – They’re a key part of using Dragon speech recognition successfully. The right microphone can improve accuracy, allow you to dictate away from your desk and promote a better ergonomic setup.

However, setting up the correct microphone to begin using Dragon and how to select a different microphone device are two of the most common queries that our support team gets.

It is pretty simple once you know how, so here is our quick and easy guide to choosing the correct dragon microphone.

Of course, the processes vary with the many different versions of Dragon, so look for your version in the list below and follow the steps accordingly.

Dragon Professional Group and Dragon Professional 16

The process for these versions is very similar, so we’ve grouped the instructions together for you.

However, there is a slight differentiation and that is between the new DragonBar and the classic DragonBar so please follow the steps according to your DragonBar.

Classic DragonBar

  • Click on “Profile”
  • Click on “Choose Microphone” and choose your dictation device/handset.
  • Click “Finish”

New DragonBar

  • Hover over the Dragon bar and click on settings.
  • Hover over “Microphone”
  • Click “Choose Microphone” and choose your dictation device/handset.
  • Click “Finish”

Dragon Professional Anywhere & Dragon Legal Anywhere

When you enter your username and password, the next screen gives you the option to choose which microphone to use with a dropdown box.

Should you be already logged in, you can also choose your microphone by following the below steps:

  • On the Dragon bar, click on the Dragon icon.
  • Click on “Speech Profile”
  • Where it says “Microphone”, choose your dictation device/handset on the dropdown box.

Dragon Medical One

Upon logging in, below your username, you have the option to choose the microphone.

Click on the dropdown box to choose your dictation device/handset.

  • On the Dragon bar, click on the Dragon icon.
  • Hover over “Microphone”, the tick will indicate which microphone is currently being used for dictation.
  • If your dictation device/handset does not have a tick beside it, click on its name to select it.

That should be all that you need to get your Dragon microphone or headset connected and ready to use – happy dictating!

If for some reason, the above guide is not working for you, or your computer isn’t recognising your microphone, please feel free to contact our support team at support@voicepower.co.uk and we’ll take a look into it for you.
